Modified Continuous Arthroscopy-Guided Suprascapular Nerve Block for Postoperative Pain Control Following Rotator Cuff Repair: Surgical Technique

نویسندگان

چکیده

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is one of the most painful surgical procedures; patients complain pain especially during first 48 hours postoperatively. Pain management an essential goal to reduce demand for analgesic agents and patient discomfort. Various methods have been introduced arthroscopic repair, including continuous arthroscopy-guided suprascapular nerve blocks (SSNB) interscalene blocks. However, aforementioned procedures shown disadvantages such as catheter mobilization, which may cause injury artery, a weak effect, Horner syndrome, well phrenic paralysis. A modification SSNB has at our hospital: modified technique. The aim this technique immobilize chance minimize postsurgical needs

Efficacy of arthroscopically placed pain catheter adjacent to the suprascapular nerve (continuous arthroscopically assisted suprascapular nerve block) following arthroscopic rotator-cuff repair

BACKGROUND Rotator-cuff surgery is well recognized to be a painful procedure. OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of an arthroscopically placed perineural catheter at the scapular notch to provide a continuous block of the suprascapular nerve (continuous arthroscopically assisted suprascapular nerve block [ca-SSNB]) following arthroscopic rotator-cuff repair ...

Comparison of Arthroscopically Guided Suprascapular Nerve Block and Blinded Axillary Nerve Block vs. Blinded Suprascapular Nerve Block in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair: A Randomized Controlled Trial

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to compare the results of arthroscopically guided suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) and blinded axillary nerve block with those of blinded SSNB in terms of postoperative pain and satisfaction within the first 48 hours after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. METHODS Forty patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair for medium-sized full thick...

Ultrasound-guided suprascapular nerve block technique.

BACKGROUND In this article, we describe a case report of using real-time, high-resolution ultrasound guidance to facilitate blockade of the suprascapular nerve. We describe a case report and technique for using a portable ultrasound scanner (38 mm broadband (13-6 MHz) linear array transducer (SonoSite Micromaxx SonoSite, Inc. 21919 30th Drive SE Bothwell W. A..)) to guide suprascapular nerve bl...

Infusion Methods for Continuous Interscalene Brachial Plexus Block for Postoperative Pain Control after Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) can provide excellent clinical results for patients who fail to respond to conservative management of symptomatic rotator cuff tears. ARCR, however, can be associated with severe postoperative pain and discomfort that requires adequate analgesia. As ARCR continues to shift toward being performed as an outpatient procedure, it is incumbent on physicians an...

Suprascapular Neuropathy Associated with Massive Rotator Cuff Tears: a Rationale for Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

INTRODUCTION Massive rotator cuff tears may be present in patients with minimal pain and good function, or in patients with significant pain and disability.5,6,14,26 In the latter case, arthroscopic repair, either partial or complete, has been demonstrated to improve function.3,11,20,21 The mechanism of recovery is believed to be associated with an improved rotator cuff function due to at least...
